Music Ensembles

We are always looking for singers and instrumentalists.
If you would like more information about any ensemble or would like to join, please contact our church office.

Sanctuary Choir

Wednesdays: Sep-May (& limited summer rehearsals) | 6:30-7:30 PM | 422 Chestnut St.

The sanctuary choir is our main vocal ensemble at First. We meet on most Wednesdays during the academic year (and some over the summer) from 6:30pm to 7:30 pm for rehearsals.  The choir typically sings at the 8:30 Sunday worship services.
The only thing that is required to be a member of the sanctuary choir is a passion for worship and a desire to learn more about music.  All skill levels in singing and reading music are welcomed to join the choir.

Wesley Ringers

Sundays: Sep-May | 4:30 PM | 422 Chestnut St.

The Wesley Ringers is our intermediate to advance level adult handbell choir at First United Methodist Church. The main goal of this ensemble is to glorify God through music while also providing an atmosphere for individuals to grow in both faith and musical skill.

The Wesley Ringers rehearse during the academic year on Sundays at 4 pm. They typically present a piece during both services on the 4th Sunday from September through May, with special pieces at Christmas, Easter, and on Music Sunday.

Music Opportunities for Kids

Children attending Wonderful Wednesday and Kids First Worship will be learning songs to sing during Sunday throughout the school year. We will also learn songs for the yearly children’s Christmas play.

New for 2025-26 – we are forming a beginner hand-chime/handbell group for 4th-12th grader (and any adult who wants to learn). Starting in September, the group will meet from 5-5:45pm on Sunday afternoon and play during worship service during the year.

Does your child play an instrument? Like to sing? We welcome any special music opportunities.

If you have questions or want more information, contact the Director of Music, Kathy McKinley at kmckinley@fumclvks.org

Other Ensembles

We have had other music ensembles here at First UMC Leavenworth.  The goal of any ensemble is to glorify and praise God through beautiful music while providing an ensemble for those who are new to bells or music in general.
