Congregational Care
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34-35
We believe that everyone is called to care.
Congregational care is the way that we take care of each other within the Body of Christ. Sometimes we are the ones offering care, other times, we need care offered to us. Each person is given particular gifts, talents, and life experiences that equip them to show God’s love to others. Check out ways to give and receive care here.
What can we do for you?
Your church is here for you and wants to show you God’s love through pastoral care, support groups, and everything in-between.
Show love for others
When we experience God’s love, it’s natural to want to share that love with others. Check out ways you can care for others in and outside the church.
Request Prayer
Need prayer? Let us know! We have options to request prayer for yourself or others confidentially or have it added to the Prayer Chain.
Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals
The Church is the primary site of weddings, baptisms, and funerals. Learn more about having these sacred ceremonies at First United Methodist Church.
Baptisms
Baptism is a sacrament. In a sacrament, God uses common elements — in this case, water — as means or vehicles of divine grace. Baptism is administered by the church as the Body of Christ. It is the act of God through the grace of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. We practice infant and adult baptism.
Weddings
Get married in our historic church.
The gothic architecture of our church can add that elegant touch to the ceremony you’ve always imagined. If you are looking for something small and intimate, our chapel in our educational building is perfect for a small family wedding.
Funerals
Funerals and memorial services are an important way to celebrate and remember the life of our loved ones. Whether you are planning your own funeral to take that stress off your loved ones one day, or are planning a funeral for someone you love, we can help.
