April, 2020: Our After school program is not currently meeting. This ensures the safety of our kids and the leaders involved. When it is safe for us to gather again, we will update this page.
One day Pastor Dave and our Children’s Education Leader were talking about taking our Children’s ministry to the kids instead of expecting the kids to come to us. They talked about having our Wednesday afternoon program in a school or daycare because so many families with children are single parents or dual income families. Two days later, Shelly Sommerfield, Mary Sommerfield’s daughter-in-law, stopped by the office to talk to Pastor Dave. She was managing a day care center and she was praying for a way to teach the children in her care about Jesus. It certainly seemed that the Holy Spirit was at work.
After a lot of prayer and working with both administrations, we are excited to announce that starting September 11, every Wednesday afternoon our 5 through 12 year old children will be joining the kids at Xavier Extended Care, 1409 2nd Ave, to learn about Jesus through games, crafts and songs.
Previously known as FAITH FORUM, we’re changing the name of the program to 1-derful Wednesdays based on Ephesians 4:4-6, “There is 1 body and 1 Spirit, just as you were called to 1 hope when you were called; 1 Lord, 1 faith, 1 baptism; 1 God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
There is a registration form that needs to be filled out since this is a licensed day care
facility, but there is no cost for students. We will be providing transportation from school to Xavier. Please contact me at email@example.com for registration forms and transportation.
Carol Shafer, Pam Hubbert and Sarah Yenney are teaching pre-school children about the promised birth of Jesus. They use puppets, games and crafts to share the good news of Jesus.
1-derful Wednesdays is for kids age 4 to 12. We meet every Wednesday from 4:00-5:15 pm at Xavier Extended Care. Transportation from school is available. Please see Sandy Wood, firstname.lastname@example.org for details and registration forms. Sandy Wood and Brendale Taylor enjoy teaching Kindergarten and first grade about Jesus’ life with stories, songs and crafts.
Jim Wolfe uses games and activities to help second through seventh grade students understand Biblical principles. Making disciples of Jesus Christ can be fun.
